How to do it
- Lie flat on a bench holding dumbbells above your chest with your palms facing forward
- Lower the dumbbells with control until you feel a deep stretch in your chest, with your elbows at roughly 90 degrees
- Press the dumbbells back up, bringing them together at the top without clanging them
- Repeat the movement smoothly, maintaining control throughout each repetition
Form tips
- Keep your shoulder blades retracted and pressed into the bench
- Focus on achieving a deep stretch at the bottom of the movement
- Distribute the weight evenly between both dumbbells
- Use controlled movement on both the lifting and lowering phases
