How to do it
- Begin by lying face down on the floor with your legs extended straight behind you and your hands placed at shoulder level, palms flat on the floor.
- Engage your core and press through your palms to lift your chest off the floor, straightening your arms to come into the cobra position, keeping your hips on the floor.
- Hold the cobra position, keeping your arms straight and your chest lifted, while breathing steadily.
Form tips
- Perform the movement with control, ensuring a smooth and steady rise into the cobra position.
- Ensure your shoulders remain down and away from your ears to avoid unnecessary strain.
- Breathe deeply and steadily throughout the exercise, inhaling as you lift your chest and exhaling as you hold the position.
- Keep your hips on the floor during the cobra hold to maintain proper form and maximize the stretch in your lower back and abdomen.
