- Secondary muscles
- Iliopsoas
How to do it
- Begin by lying on your back with your knees bent and feet flat on the floor. Place your hands behind your head with your elbows wide.
- Engage your core and lift your upper body into a crunch position, holding the contraction at the top.
- While holding the crunch, rotate your torso to the right. Return to the center.
- Lower your upper body back to the floor, then repeat the movement, this time rotating to the left. Continue alternating sides for the desired number of repetitions.
Form tips
- Avoid pulling on your neck with your hands; use your abdominal muscles to lift and rotate your torso.
- Keep your elbows wide to ensure you are using your core muscles rather than your arms.
- Make sure your lower back remains pressed against the floor throughout the exercise.
