How to do it
- Begin in a downward-facing dog position with your hands shoulder-width apart, your hips lifted high toward the ceiling, and your body forming an inverted V shape.
- Keeping both hands planted, bend your right knee while pressing your left heel down toward the floor, feeling a stretch through your left calf and hamstring.
- Switch sides by straightening your right leg and pressing your right heel down as you bend your left knee.
- Continue alternating (pedaling) your heels toward the floor in a smooth, controlled rhythm for the desired duration.
Form tips
- Keep your hands firmly pressed into the mat and your hips lifted high to hold the inverted V shape throughout.
- Move slowly and with control, pressing each heel toward the floor only as far as your flexibility allows.
- Breathe steadily and evenly, syncing your breath with the alternating pedaling motion.
