How to do it
- Stand facing a wall with your feet shoulder-width apart. Place your hands on the wall at shoulder height and shoulder-width apart.
- Step your right foot back and keep on your toes, keeping your leg straight and bring your left leg close to the wall, touching it with your forefoot.
- Press your back heel flat to the floor, pushing with your left forefoot against the wall to deepen the stretch in your calf.
- Hold the stretch for 20-30 seconds, then switch legs and repeat.
Form tips
- Maintain a straight back and avoid arching or rounding your spine.
- Use a lighter push against the wall if you are new to stretching, gradually increasing the pressure as you become more flexible.
- Breathe deeply and steadily throughout the stretch to help relax your muscles.
