How to do it

  1. Stand with your feet shoulder-width apart, holding an EZ bar with an overhand grip (palms facing down), hands placed slightly wider than shoulder-width apart. Let the bar hang in front of your thighs.
  2. Raise the EZ bar directly in front of you to shoulder height until parallel to the floor.
  3. Pause briefly at the top of the movement, squeezing your shoulder muscles.
  4. Lower the bar back to the starting position in a controlled manner.

Form tips

  • Avoid using momentum to lift the bar; focus on a controlled motion.
  • Exhale as you lift the bar and inhale as you lower it.
  • Keep your wrists in a neutral position to avoid strain.
